Cheri Maracle is a singer/songwriter whose unique, eclectic expression is inspired by her Mohawk ancestry and nomadic upbringing across Canada.

Maracle's early musical influence, that of women's handrum groups, is woven throughout her original compositions. Her musical style, a fusion of genres including roots, rock, jazz and blues is predominated by her passionate and powerful voice.

Cheri's debut album Closer to Home, released in 2006, is a reflection rooted in a challenging life that threads stories about identity, pride, Aboriginal issues, love and the human spirit. Subsequently Cheri was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Songwriter for the Aboriginal People's Choice Music Awards 2007, Best Female Artist for the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards 2007, and in the Best Alternative Rock, and Best Pop categories for the Indian Summer Music Awards 2008.
